Yes, this game is over 11 years old. And the graphics have been significantly improved. While I have returned, I have noticed that there are alot more video options. I was pretty stoked to see these improvements. So I decided to run everything on max. Wish I had thought that through. I am running a GeForce 9600 GSO. My video card had overheated within 2 days. Ended up putting my old 6600 back in for the time being, and lowered my settings.
I am curious to know what everyone else is running and at what settings? Did I overclock my card by doing this, or just bad luck? I had read alot of mixed reviews on the card saying it overheated, it was a great card, blah blah.. I had bought this card over 1 & half years ago. So it lasted me quite some time, although I think it should not have burnt out that quickly.
I recently had a high end sapphire card that burned out after a year and a half... That would be pretty sad if AC was the reason your card burnt out... Right now i have an ati radeon HD 4770 and I can run AC on all max setting but as soon as I get into anything PVP related... the lag just destroys me. So, I run everything on medium to avoid any of it.
I run my Radeon 5770 at all low settings with ac.
Not to jynx myself, but I am running a Ge Force 9600 from Palit. I'm running lots of stuff, including another TNT 2 Rage Pro card for my second monitor, an external DVD-r writer/player, 1 terabyte harddrive, 320 gig internal, 3-4gigs of ram, on a 480 watt+ power supply. It's all working fine. I blow the dust out once every couple months
How big was your power supply? I'm willing to bet that's the culprit right there. You'll wanna go 500 or even way higher depending on what you're doing.
I have an 650 watt PS.Originally Posted by Magtide
Yeah thats either the same or better then mine.
As Magtide said above... When was the last time you blew the dust out of inside the case? Could be a very good reason it overheaded. Also make sure all the fans are working correctly.
